Warriors pray rain gods play the game

After another disappointing washout, the Warriors head into the second half of the CSA T20 Challenge pool stage praying for better weather conditions with two home games over the Easter Weekend.

The first half of the competition has almost been a complete waste for the Warriors.

Three of the matches have produced no results due to rain, including the latest on Wednesday night in Durban. They managed a rain- affected win over the Titans in their first match while in their only fully completed match they lost by seven wickets against the Cobras.

The Warriors now head into the final five games of the pool stage, four of which will be at home, desperate to get in some game-time to build up momentum to reach the knockout stages.

They take on the Cobras at St George's in Port Elizabeth on Saturday before heading back to East London on Monday where they will come up against the Titans.

It will be a tough weekend for the hosts as they face the inform Cobras, who have had no such struggles with rain, completing all of their matches so far, winning four and losing one. The Titans have had their own struggles with rain-affected clashes, having had two noresults, and they will be eager to get in some solid game-time against the Warriors.

They will also be seeking a bit of revenge after the first game of the competition where the Warriors only batted six overs in a big chase, but had made enough runs when the rain came down to cut that match short, allowing the Warriors to take full points.

The Warriors will be relying on the form of batsmen, Gihahn Cloete, Matthew Breetzke, Jon Jon Smuts, Sinethemba Qeshile and Marco Marais in the coming games while banking on bowlers such as Lutho Sipamla, Sisanda Magala and Andrew Birch to produce the goods.

Saturday's match gets under way at 6pm at St George's Park, while Monday's game at Buffalo Park sees a 2.30pm start.
