Receiver does have form needed for rates rebate
There is relief in sight for pensioner Jannie du Toit, who wrote that the Receiver of Revenue knew nothing about the letter BCM had asked for before it could approve a rates rebate (“BCM Inventing Red Tape”, DD, May 27).
There is indeed such a certificate. This is how to get it:
● Have your tax registration number, from when you last paid taxes, at the ready.
● Then dial 0800-007-277 and request the ITSA form.
● It is headed INCOME TAX STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT: ASSESSED TAX.
Just a word of advice: when phoning SARS, not everybody who answers is co-operative.
It was only on my third try that a very nice lady sent the form. Always be polite.
It doesn’t pay to lose your temper.
I hope this is of assistance to Jannie and others.
