Christmas arrives early for RAP pugilists

Christmas arrived almost two weeks early for boxers belonging to Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) when the stable gave their boxers food hampers and words of encouragem­en.

More than 30 boxers who graced the event that was supported by National Youth Developmen­t Agency (NYDA) at the Gompo Community Hall in Duncan Village.

RAP boss Terris Ntutu said their work with boxers didn’t only end in the ring because they wanted to see them achieve greater things in life and change their lives in the long run.

He pleaded with the young boxers to behave themselves during the festive holiday and avoid doing anything that would jeopardise their boxing careers.

“We know this is a busy time for everyone and we want to see all of you back in one piece when we return from this short break,” Ntutu said.

“We advise you not to overdo things during this holiday, and to keep visiting the gym — especially those boxers whose fights were cancelled recently.”

Ntuntu also thanked his boxers for their good performanc­es in the ring throughout the year and he also promised to keep supporting them wherever possible.

“Imisebenzi yenu eringin iyabonalak­ala madoda. People are loving our tournament­s, they buy our tickets because of the way you conduct yourselves inside the ring.

“Keep it up guys because It is our vision to see you all succeed in life.

“But please look after your own families because all those that love you when you have purse money won’t be there when you need them the most,” said Ntutu.

RAP CEO Nomfesane Nyatela handed over the food hampers and wished all boxers a merry time this festive season. She also thanked the NYDA for their involvemen­t in shaping the lives of East London boxers.

“We want you guys to have a beautiful festive season hence we decided to do this in partnershi­p with the NYDA,” she stated. .

“We want to thank the involvemen­t of NYDA, they’ve been part of us – sharing our vision as a stable. Through them we’ve also been able to send our boxers to school and we are grateful for that.”
