Chiefs get September date for CAS case

Kaizer Chiefs’ appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the matter involving the transfer of Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianamimanana from Malagasy side Fosa Juniors will be heard on September 9.

Chiefs have been banned from signing any new players in the next two transfer windows, while Dax has been suspended for four months and ordered to pay almost R640,000 in compensation, plus interest, to his former club, a tab that is due to be picked up by the Soweto club.

Dax has since moved on to Black Leopards after a failed stay at Naturena after his August 2018 arrival, and his playing ban will expire on Saturday, meaning he will be available for the club on the resumption of the Absa Premiership.

However, Chiefs are likely to miss out on signing players in the next transfer window while their case is waiting to be heard, after they appealed to CAS when a Fifa hearing into the matter found against them.

Dax joined Chiefs from Madagascan side Fosa Juniors, but the islanders claimed he had signed a professional contract with them in November 2016, something the player vehemently denies.

Chiefs will take their appeal to CAS, having not had the opportunity to give a heads of argument in the case before the Fifa Dispute Resolution Chamber, which made a ruling based on submitted evidence only.

The Soweto side claim a handwriting expert concluded that the signature on the contract submitted by Fosa Juniors was a forgery and of that of Dax, though Fifa dismissed this evidence on the basis they do not have jurisdiction to rule on it. —
