JSE strengthens ahead of US Covid-19 relief package
The JSE was firmer on Thursday, with its global peers mixed as sentiment was lifted by the continuing discussions in the US regarding Covid-19 relief.
At 10.55am, the JSE all-share had firmed 0.37% to 57,840.13 points and the top-40 index was 0.41% firmer.
Banks had firmed 1.33%, financials 0.71%, resources 0.58% and industrials 0.13%.
Platinum miners had lost 0.90% and gold mining 0.88%.
Gold had firmed 0.62% to $2,050.4/oz and platinum 1.33% to $977.87/oz.
Brent crude had lost 0.4% to $45.14 a barrel.
The rand had weakened 1.01% to R17.50/$, 0.90% to R20.74/€ and 1.48% to R23.03/£.
