Millions up for grabs

Three Pick 6 carryovers on one weekend doesn’t come around often, so when it does – like this weekend – it’s time to cash in.

Yes, TAB is boosting the Pick 6 pool tomorrow at Turffontein with R500,000, while the Durbanville pool will get an extra R100,000.

Sunday’s Pick 6 pool at the Greyville-meeting starts off with a R200,000 carryover.

Combined, these three pools are expected to reach in excess of R6.5-million.

But wait, as they say in the infomercials, there’s more.

Tomorrow’s meeting at Turffontein also boasts a R50,000 carryover on the Pick 3 on races 7 to 9, and a carryover of R5,000 on every Rolling Double.

Race 7, the Joburg Spring Challenge, will also see the Quartet pool boosted by R200,000.

One of the highlights this weekend is the contest between three four-time winners in Race 6 at Turffontein tomorrow, the Grade 2 Joburg Spring F&M Challenge over 1450m.

Anything Goes, Golden Belle and Mount Laurel square off in a highly anticipated race where they will be jumping from gates 1-3 respectively.

Golden Belle, the highest rated runner in the field, earned her merit rating of 116 after six runs, which produced three wins, most notably her victory in the Grade 2 Camellia Stakes.

Trained by Seann Tarry and with Luke Ferraris in the saddle, she looks the one to beat. Despite carrying top weight, she tops the best weighted column.

Trained by Stuart Pettigrew, the three-year-old Anything Goes is unbeaten in four runs, and considering that she is already a Grade 1-winner, with victory in the Thekwini Stakes inked on her resume, she’s proven that she has BMT – that’s Big Match Temperament.

Add the fact that she has a 5.5kg weight advantage over her nearest rivals, she’s definitely in with more than just a chance.

Gary Alexander-trained Mount Laurel is the only other four-time winner in the field and probably won’t go down without a fight.

Winning the Grade 3 Three Troikas Stakes earlier this year, she cemented her place among the superstars in the making.

These three are an absolute must to include in exotics, while runners like Mill Queen and Magic School also have victory claims.
