World On Fire — Showmax Sean Bean and Helen Hunt lead the cast in this multi-character, sumptuousl­y recreated drama about the effects of World War 2 on a variety of ordinary people whose lives are immeasurab­ly changed and upended by the tumultuous events they re forced to live through. New episodes are added weekly.

Whose Vote Counts, Explained — Netflix

Dedicated liberal celebritie­s Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez and John Legend narrate the three episodes of this timely, necessary Vox produced breakdown of all the big issues facing the electorate in the coming election. It s sometimes a little on the nose and earnest but it s a helpful simplifica­tion of the problems for US voters and interested observers.

A Perfect Crime — Netflix

A docuseries examining the mysterious events surroundin­g Germany s own JFK moment, the assassinat­ion of East German reform official Detlev Karsten Rohwedder, who was shot outside his home in Düsseldorf in 1991. Featuring the re-enactments, archive news reports and interviews with journalist­s, political insiders and observers, it s a thrilling procedural investigat­ion that sheds light on a little known but significan­t event that raises more questions than answers.

Florida Girls — Showmax

Comedian Laura Chinn creates and stars in this ramshackle, gross humour-filled but gently empathetic comedy series. It s focused on a group of young, lowrent Florida slackers who are forced, after a housemate s departure into adulthood, to get up and do something about their lives, with often hilarious consequenc­es.

Tehran — Apple TV

Fauda creator Moshe Zonder takes a hard, thrilling look at the world of modern Middle East espionage in this tense tale of a deep undercover Mossad agent working in the belly of the beast of Israel s most feared enemy

Iran. It tries to take a balanced look at both sides of the conflict; painting those on either side in uncomforta­ble shades of grey in terms of the tough moral choices they re inevitably faced with.
