CHILLI COMBINATION Seema trying out winning formula
Chippa United coach Lehlohonolo Seema has organised some friendly matches with Glad Africa and the PSL league in search for a winning combination before the start of the DStv Premiership League season on October 24.
Recently the Port Elizabethbased professional football team released 15 players.
Seema believes the massive clearance had to be done in order to bring some young, fresh blood into the Chilli Boys squad and make it competitive in the new season.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic mentor declined to say much about which province and teams they would be playing these friendlies against, and said they were still waiting for the PSL to send fixtures out before they made up their mind.
In the two weeks before the start of the league we are aiming to have some friendlies, starting from next week,” Seema said.
Wewill play some NFD teams and maybe two PSL clubs, then we will be ready the last week to start the league on October 24.
Wewill go out of the province “for friendless because here we don t have any NFD and PSL teams. I am not at liberty to say which province at the moment, because I am still waiting for the fixtures from PSL.”
Seema said it was important to see the fixtures first before playing the friendly matches so that Chippa did not play a friendly match against a team they would open the league against.
So we are waiting for the fixtures, “but definitely next week we ll play friendly games because
I think by then the fixtures will be out.
The players are working very hard and we are trying to build our philosophy here, we are trying to find our identity at Chippa United.
I am pleased with what I have seen at training so far.
We can only be sure of our progress when the league starts andwe are tested, but I think the few friendly games that we are going to play will give us an idea of exactly what to expect come the start of the season,” the coach said.
