Chippa United all set to be stronger after break

- VUYOKAZI NKANJENI

Chippa United defender Sandile Mthethwa says the team will come back even stronger in the DStv Premiership after the Fifa break.

The two-week period comes courtesy of Bafana Bafana s

’ 2022 Africa Cup of Nations twolegged qualifiers against São Tomé.

The Chilli Boys went into the break having beaten Maritzburg United 3-1 to register their first win of the season.

Mthethwa says the break will give them enough time to get to know each other and for the team to master coach Lehlohonolo Seema s philosophy.

’ He said with the high confidence levels in the team, the Chilli Boys would come out chasing victories.

Chippa will play Stellenbosch United when the league resumes at the Danie Craven Stadium on November 21.

“During the break we have been training. Obviously we need to work more for new players to try and understand the coach and the other players,” Mthethwa said. So, I think

“we needed this break just to work on some things.”

Chippa have collected four points from their first three outings. They played to a 1-1 draw against Cape Town City, followed by a 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs, with their most recent result being that victory against the Team of Choice.

I think for next match, we “will do better than our previous three games.

We have done well in the “past three games but we were unlucky not to get a point against Kaizer Chiefs. The guys played very well. It s been a ’ good three games, but I think we can do better.

If you look at how we started, “and we use this time well, after six or seven games we will have good results because the team would have gelled.

The 23-year-old Orlando Pirates player, who has been on loan to Chippa since 2019, has made only 10 appearances in the league and domestic cup competitions since joining the Port Elizabeth side.

But he says he is enjoying working with coach Seema and is hoping for more starts.

He says the coach understands the players and always pushes for the best in each of them, not only on the pitch but off it as well.
