Lights on at home affairs
Ihad a wonderful experience recently at the home affairs department in Fleet Street for an ID application. I was dreading queuing for hours, unprotected from the weather.
But then I saw an advert that said visits can now be arranged online, and this turned out to be a wonderful and free-flowing ID application exercise. I was in and out of their offices in 25 minutes flat!
There was only one gremlin in the new system: online applicants still have to ask for direction once inside the office. Signage inside the building would really help.
