Kambindu says Chippa will bounce back against high-flying Richards Bay

Chippa United player Elmo Kambindu is confident his team will come back with a win against Richards Bay on Sunday after their 21 defeat to Cape Town City on Tuesday at the Cape Town Stadium.

The Dstv Premiership fixture between Chippa and Richards Bay will take place at the Bidvest Wits Stadium (3.30pm).

Chippa’s four-match winning streak in the league was halted by City on Sunday, but the 29-year-old Namibian centre forward is determined that the Chilli Boys will get back onto that winning wagon this weekend.

Despite the setback, the Gqeberha side remain sixth on the log, with 17 points from 12 matches.

Kambindu knows that Sunday’s encounter against a high-flying Richards Bay, who are second on the log, will not be easy but he remains confident that Chippa will come out victorious.

“It’s definitely not going to be an easy game,” Kambindu said.

“They wouldn’t want to drop points but, from our side, after dropping points in Cape Town it was like a wake-up call.

“We had got too used to winning and now we went there and we lost in Cape Town, so I personally think and know that come Sunday we are definitely going to win there.”

The former CD Costa do Sol player, who joined Chippa at the start of the season, said coach Morgan Mammilla had no special focus areas at training.

“It was training as normal this weekend ahead of Sunday’s game,” he said.

“We are training the way we have been training for the last four to five games.

“The only thing we’ve put more focus on is the mindset and understanding the opponents we are playing against.

“So nothing has changed.

“We don’t know much about our opponents. They definitely don’t know that much about us either, so the team that comes out prepared on Sunday will win.

“I feel like my side is fully prepared for the game so I am confident we are going to get three points on Sunday.”
