This weekend: Not to miss
Comics: This virtual exhibition was launched back in June, a collaboration between the The Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image and the French Institute of South Africa and closes on 30 September. You only have a few days left to scroll through the incredible comics shown at Afropolitan Comics – From South Africa to the Continent, Images in Conversation. Split into three chapters – Autobiography, Heroes & History, Folklore & the Future – the exhibition showcases the work of 16 artists, their comics in conversation with each other.
Fashion & design: KAMERS/Makers Space is the name of the pop-up stores that replaced the annual design shows known as Kamers.
Stores are currently open in Johannesburg (Hyde Park Corner) and Cape Town (V&A Waterfront). There, you will find a wide selection of local design and fashion products. And this year, entrance is free.
Art: Artist Luyanda Zindela exhibits Kwanele in the mezzanine space at the KZNSA Art Gallery until 4 October. Zindela’s work explores “collecting and sharing of thoughts, lived experiences, feelings, hopes and fears, the gallery mezzanine space becomes a vessel – a communal space where burdens, individual or common, can be shared or left behind”.
