EDITOR’S LETTER

- Victoria O’Regan

This week was the annual Clean-Up and Recycle SA Week, and in this edition of MavericKIDS, we look at what materials can be recycled, the recycling process, and the importance of recycling in preventing pollution and securing a sustainable future.

Recycling is the process of collecting all that stuff that is thrown away, and changing it into materials that can be used again. This is important because it reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, and also helps to preserve the Earth’s natural resources.

If you look inside your rubbish bin, you will see that there are many different types of materials that go to waste. Only certain materials can be recycled, such as glass, paper, plastic and metal. You can also make compost out of vegetable peels and leftover food.

Why don’t you ask an older sister or brother or an adult to help you separate rubbish so that you can send it off to be recycled?

Until next time, enjoy!
