How is paper recycled?
There are many processes used to recycle different types of materials. Here is the process for recycling paper:
Paper – including used magazines and newspapers – is collected at paper recycling points or from rubbish bins and landfills.
The paper is then taken to a recycling plant where it is separated into types and grades.
The separated paper is soaked with water, staples and glue. Sometimes
6. they need to add chemicals to remove ink. The paper is then fed into giant machines that are like liquidisers, and made into pulp. By adding different materials to the pulp, different paper products can be created, such as cardboard and toilet paper.
The pulp is spread onto the paper machine using large rollers, and the machine dries and flattens it.
The long sheets of paper are rolled up and ready to be cut and sent to factories or shops.
