IF MEN HAD CONFIDENCE TO VIEW WOMEN AS EQUALS

-

Response to Changing what men think will help change their behaviour

Finally, a light is being shone on the cause of gender-based violence, rather than the historical approach of policing and punishment.

Violence is a learned behaviour pattern, and the “re-socialising” of which Christopher Isike speaks, if addressed timeously – i.e. from an early age – would play a major role in shifting this behaviour, where women are seen as “property” over which men display a sense of ownership, plus a hegemonic attitude. Or women are seen as a threat, when manifesting superior mental or emotional traits.

Would that males (and all humans, really) could come to a view of equanimity – firstly, seeing the good in themselves, then having the confidence to see all others as equal, including girls and women. This view may only be engendered if children are raised in a secure, loving and accepting environment.
