Five held for dealing in libido boosters
FIVE men have been arrested for illegally dealing in libidoboosting drugs – including imitations of Viagra – with a total value of more than R880 000.
The men, aged between 23 and 35, were arrested in Port Shepstone and Margate on Tuesday.
Provincial police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said detectives from the Port Shepstone Directorate of Priority Crime Investigations found the men in possession of the drugs, valued at R881 760, following an investigation into illegal dealing in schedule four drugs at Margate.
Naicker said three of the suspects were arrested in a shop in Margate where police confiscated a large quantity of tablets and gels.
“Further investigation led detectives to the Port Shepstone CBD where more illegal drugs were found and two more suspects were arrested,” he said.
Naicker said large quantities of Vigora, Femalegra, Cialis, Hard on Power, Zerengra and Kamagra – some of which are imitation versions of Viagra – were recovered as well as Persivate and Lenovate ointment, which are schedule four ointments that may be purchased only at a pharmacy.
Naicker said a total of 16 704 tablets, 354 tubes of the schedule four ointments and 61 gels were seized.
“All five suspects will be charged for dealing in unregistered medication as well as schedule four drugs, and are expected to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court soon,” he said.
