Pupils spread shimmer and shine at beauty workshop
PUPILS at the AB Moola Spes Nova school for the disabled had the time of their lives, spreading a little shimmer and shine at a beauty workshop.
The event on Friday, hosted by the Dante Paige Training Academy, was a fun-filled session, where beauty experts shared top make-up and skincare tips with the learners.
“It was such an honour to have a beauty day for the kids. Many of them come from homes where they don’t have everything.
“So, it was a learning opportunity for those who wish to pursue a career in the beauty field,” academy founder Natasha Naidoo said.
For many of the pupils, job opportunities are limited because of their disabilities, Naidoo said.
They hoped the initiative, which will now take place quarterly, will give them a glimpse of the beauty industry as an opportunity for self-employment, she added.
eThekwini council speaker Logie Naidoo, who was among the guests, volunteered for a manicure and facial by Anitha Phili. Logie said the experience was the best of his life.
“I wanted to look very beautiful, so I went,” Naidoo said.
Naidoo, who burst out in song afterwards, said he admired the work the school did and did not hesitate to lend his support when they approached him.
“It’s a special school, they work with physically challenged children and I think it’s a great community initiative. I was pampered and I was very impressed,” Naidoo said.
He urged the public to contribute towards the initiative, which helped transform the lives of these inspirational children.
