Construction conference
CONTRACTORS in Durban will have an opportunity to learn more about legislation that affects the construction industry and opportunities available to them at a conference for emerging and established contractors.
The two-day conference begins today at the Durban Exhibition Centre’s Coast of Dreams.
It will be hosted by the eThekwini Municipality’s Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit.
Programme manager Skuta Ngcobo said this year’s conference would be different from previous ones.
“The past two years we have been concentrating on providing information and talking about compliance, but this year the speakers will be focusing on industry legislation and available opportunities.
“Most of the contractors are on Construction Industry Development Board Level One, and struggle to upgrade to CIDB Level Two and above to benefit from the programmes many government departments offer,” Ngcobo said.
She said the aim of the conference was to help contractors to become self-sustainingwhile guiding them through the industry’s most common challenges and factors that frustrate business growth and sustainability.
Service providers from established companies and institutions will be given a platform to exhibit their services and products to the emerging contractors.
The conference begins at 8am and ends at 4pm on both days. – Daily News Reporter
