Mom mourns on Mother’s Day

-

A CHATSWORTH woman spent Mother’s Day grieving for her son, killed in a robbery at their home on Friday.

Stella Pillay, 83, was at her Venus Lane home when a man the family had hired the previous day to help in the garden, returned with a companion to rob them.

Her son, Gerard Pillay, 45, was at a nearby tuck-shop, and when he went home he found his mother tied up. The robbers were still in the house and they assaulted Pillay in front of his mother and tied his hands.

A scuffle broke out and he was stabbed before the two ran off. He died soon after.

Pillay was cremated at the Clare Estate Crematorium yesterday.

Police spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane, said police were investigating. –
