Chan welcomes ‘Karate Kid’ Tamil remake
International film star and film-maker, Jackie Chan, has welcomed the idea of remaking his 2010 film, The KarateKid, in Tamil. OneIndia.in’sAVINASH GOPINATH reports…
There have been reports that action choreographer Siva, widely known as Stunt Siva, who appeared in Kamal Haasan’s Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, has taken to direction with his debut movie titled Karate Karan.
And the latest we hear from sources close to the movie is that Asia’s most popular star, Jackie Chan, has sent warm wishes to the team of Karate Karan.
What does Chan have to do with Siva’s debut movie, you might ask? Well, as it turns out, Karate Karan is the official remake of Jackie Chan’s 2010 movie, The Karate Kid.
Stunt Siva has revealed that he informed Chan about the remake and the Hollywood actor has congratulated the entire team.
“Jackie Chan is a friend of mine and he wished us good luck when we informed him that we are going to remake The Karate Kid. The script had to undergo certain changes so that Tamil audience can relate to it,” said Siva.
Karate Karan will star Siva’s entire family as his sons Kevin and Stephen are said to play the lead roles, while Chan’s role in the original will be played by his wife Laani, who is a professional in martial arts.
Siva has also promised that the movie will not be a disappointment as it will be a treat to family audiences.

Stun Shiva is a stunt choreography who won the Tamil Nadu State Award for best Stunt Choreography for the movie Kannukul Nilavu and received the prestigious IIFA award (The International Indian Film Academy) for his stunt direction for the Hindi movie Ghajini.

The Karate Kid is a ChineseAmerican martial arts comedydrama film directed by Harald Zwart. It stars Chan and Jaden Smith, and was produced by Jaden’s parents, Will and Jada. It is a remake of the 1984 film of the same name and the fifth installment of The Karate Kid series.
