SONA/Politics
The comedy SONA show on TV begs the question why the law does not allow the police to arrest those disgruntled EFF members, or are they protected by Parliament? We are no different than other countries, but this is now the norm in Parliament by the EFF to sabotage our democracy. Arrest them, imprison them and educate them.
It is a real shame, in the heart of our country’s lawmaking, human rights are being abused and violated. Security men violently handling women, and women handling the men. Shame on the government of the ANC.
SONA 17 was a joke. Jacob Zuma and all the cANCer in Parliament are an embarrassment to South Africa as a whole. I agree with Julius Malema: How can you allow a crook to address the nation? All opposition parties should have walked out in solidarity. Then there was the abuse and vulgar insults hurled at the DA when they walked out, sis on you, as your true character was displayed. You do not belong in Parliament. How pathetic of the Speaker not to honour the 94 people who recently died. The circus has truly come to Cape Town, and it was not Boswell, it was the Zuma/ANC circus. Zuma must rather do his state of the nation address from his office and stop wasting money with SONA. His entire speech was a lot of twaddle; lucky his speech writer did not use big numbers this year, and only wrote out billion and trillion after each figure. JGV.
How ironic that the ANC MPs hurl racist insults at the DA and are not taken to task, or even a word is said about it. Yet all the focus is on the EFF and the DA. Is it only the opposition that is racist? Zuma is not a president of good standing and SA knows that. I wonder if anything will be said about their (ANC) racism? Doubt it.
I was in utter disgust when the Speaker of the house refused to conduct a minute’s silence for the ± 94 patients that have passed on. This shows that she has no compassion and remorse Our current BackChat service provider is closing shop and, as a result, we will be migrating to a new number: 071 485 7995 that you will be able to access via WhatsApp. You can also SMS us on the same number. Normal data and SMS costs will apply – Editor incompetence. So sad and everything is a joke for our president. Lawrence.
Regardless of how we feel or what is right or wrong, Jacob Zuma is the president and we must give his position due respect.
So now our extremely important State of the Nation Address deteriorates down to a fashion parade at a social occasion in the same vein as the Durban July. Very impressive politicians. We do not care what you wear to hide your scary bodies. We care what you wear to hide your scary deeds and, indeed, even your very souls.
Education
HRM 51 of 2016 must be revisited. Thousands of qualified educators are sitting on the sidelines some for as long as 8 to 10 years. Why should bursary holders have preference? What about people who have paid for their own studies? Is it fair to leave them on the sidelines? Let the truth be told.
Odds and ends
Magnificent ! I was at the KZN Philharmonic orchestral performance on the opening night of the summer concerts. Durban is privileged to see such talent. Edmac.
Ford are to invest millions in driverless cars. Perhaps driverless taxis would eradicate the reckless attitude of the taxi industry and reduce road fatalities. Edmac.
