Another Valentine’s day: a commercially inspired day of unrealistic expectations and animated romance. And we wonder why so many relationships fail. Successful relationships go way beyond animated gestures and feeding expectations. Probably explains why it’s rare as hen’s teeth.
Redistribution of educators: The process is flawed. Staffing for 2017 was determined at the end of 2016 based on enrolment in January 2016. This is a joke. Staffing for 2017 should be based on 10th day enrolment figures in January 2017. At placement process where surplus educators are placed in vacancies, educators surplus at secondary schools are placed in primary schools, some in the foundation phase. Are we looking at the needs of learners or educators? Currently many schools with vacancies are hiring SGB educators because the DoE has not placed educators in these posts. This was not budgeted for at budget meetings. It is causing a major strain to schools that are cash-strapped. SGB’s are left with no option but to employ educators because some classes would not have had educators since schools re-opened. Some schools where educators were declared surplus in 2016, have a situation where enrolment has risen in 2017 and require more educators. People of Woodview, beware. Prem is on the
