Give it up for the mayor
THE letter “Thanks for action in mortuary strike” (Daily News, March 13), where Dhayalan Moodley praises and thanks the MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, refers.
Moodley is Durban’s unofficial “imbongi”, it seems. He praises and thanks someone for their deeds and action in just about every letter he writes to the media.
It is commendable, but it is now becoming a bit tedious.
When Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan delivered the 2017 Budget speech in the Na- tional Assembly, he was welcomed by an imbongi singing his praises and leading him to the podium.
I would like to suggest that the eThekwini Municipality employ Moodley as the city’s official imbongi, so he can lead the mayor at council meetings, singing her praises.
It will be a win-win situation: he will be happy doing what he likes best and we won’t have to put up with his ranting in the newspapers. SANJAY SINGH
