Peer snub reveals questionable agenda

-

THE past two weeks of controversy concerning the overlooking of deputy mayor Fawzia Peer to stand in as mayor is still the subject of talk in political circles and homes.

I have some difficulty in reconciling the decision to bypass Peer as acting mayor.

This type of behaviour is uncalled for and the mayor’s decision is both flawed and questionable.

I ponder why this stance is taken against Peer.

Clearly there is a hidden agenda.

Peer must be commended for being truly professional and not kicking up a storm, but going about her duties as deputy mayor and in line with her commitment to the people of eThekwini to make a better life for all.

While there may be sinister plots and clandestine activities, I believe that if the deputy mayor continues to champion the cause of the people, she will always be victorious as the “truth must prevail”. DHAYALAN MOODLEY
