If what Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe did was done by a EFF or DA politician, not only the government but morons all over SA would be baying for that politician’s blood. They will be howling for his immediate suspension and ask for an enquiry to be set up to investigate that politician. Not only will it be labelled disgusting, but an apartheid tag will be attached to it. South Africa is going on a downward spiral. Politicians are expected to be role models with regards to good behaviour. But sadly this is not to be.

What an amazing person Donald Trump is. When he was campaigning to become the president of the USA, he said he would ban all Muslims entering the US. After becoming president the first country he visits is a Muslim country. Makes you think, he he, he. EK.
CCTV & crime
Well done to Hilton Hotel and Super Clean management on their temporary installation of ‘safety’ cameras to record theft from rooms. To hell with so-called “workers rights to privacy” while cleaning guest rooms. That’s pure rubbish and just a weak excuse to prevent monitoring and thereby to continue stealing. Speaking as an ex-senior manager in manufacturing, I advise Hilton management to go one step further and replace Super Clean. The resultant losses will send clear message to old as well as new hotel staff AND contractors the perils of stealing from your employer, or at your place of employment. Had a break-in at our cottage. None of the 4 policemen who visited at different times showed any enthusiasm whatsoever. It was clear that as nobody was hurt, the case was technically closed. I wonder why I bothered reporting the crime. VT.
SAPS vs IPID. Watching these two so-called crime fighting and corruption combating agents have a go at each on E.News live, is frightening. The heads of these departments are unstable themselves. How then can they curb crime and corruption when they focus on challenging each other? No wonder there is no law and order in this country. There is no one with honesty, integrity and power to instruct their subordinates to perform the functions of these units for the welfare and well-being of the citizens of SA. I don’t think that the minister of police as well as the national and provincial commissioners, as well as the district commissioners are aware that you cannot promote military ranks within your admin staff. These people need a wake-up call, stop biting each other’s heads, revisit your rank promotion structure, SOP’s, policies and do station visits. Maybe then you can restore law and order. There are seasoned policemen and women that are despondent because after 25 years of service as a warrant officer, you get a clerk with 10 years service becoming a captain, only to find out the “captain” cannot take down a statement. How unfair and irritating. This impacts negatively on members that have been to college and are seasoned police officials. Hope the top brass reads this one. L.N.

I would like to know where our nation has learnt the method of destruction? Only destruction, rape, murder, burning, etc. Even loot an orphanage. Omg, what chance does our beloved country have? Sad.

Getting a pension at age 70 is not automatic, the reply from Sassa for four months. Went to the office on 16 May and told our application was declined. They look at husband and wife’s pension jointly, yet if I went alone I would qualify under the means test. Both my husband and I are former civil servants. Although retired, we’re still paying off a bond, paying high rates, utilities and other living expenses. Pension is not much, but every little bit helps. This, after paying our taxes for more than forty years.
Water awareness – that’s a laugh. The municipality could save millions if they attended to faults timeously and did maintenance.
