PUTTING A PRICE ON US PRINCIPLE

-

THE duplicity of US foreign relations is laid bare in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey.

Even when all the evidence pointed to a heinous crime being committed within the consulate by Saudi agents, Donald Trump still alluded to “rogue” elements being involved. It was only when the Saudis, under pressure of leaks from the Turks, finally capitulated and admitted that Khashoggi had been killed in the consulate that Trump finally issued a statement that vaguely resembled a condemnation.

Even then, although promising all sorts of repercussions, this did not extend to suspending arms sales to Saudi Arabia. Evidently $100 billion is the price of American principle.
