R2 BILLION from VBS and hundreds of millions stolen from government departments are not hidden in shoe boxes under beds. It is deposited into banks which gave evidence at the state capture inquiry. We heard tearful managers talk about the Guptas, but never heard how thieves deposited into their banks in defiance of Fica laws. Did they not question how so many won the Lotto altogether? | SAM

VBS Bank: The ruling party is hell bent on finding the culprits and bringing them to book. What about the billions being swindled from our municipalities, and other government organisations so that political appointees can pay the ruling party back for the favour?

Ramaphosa as president is doing exactly what he did as deputy president – nothing. He sat on the sidelines without raising a finger. We get flowery empty speeches as if he’s talking to imbeciles. He insults our intelligence.

ODDS AND ENDS

Schools officially close on December 12 for Grade 8 to 11. But my children’s school wants to start the final exams at the end of October and finish by November 9. So they expect our kids to stay at home one month before school officially closes. Why? Because they want to go for Black Friday and Christmas shopping? | Schools have their own rules, regulations and ethos. Before any parent enrols their child they know this. Why then enrol your child into a school which does not conform to your principles, beliefs and values? Why enrol a child in a Christian school and then cry foul if you knew the rules from the start? Now you have the gall to say it is racist and unconstitutional. Put the shoe on the other foot. Hypothetically speaking, how would you feel if I sent my child to an Islamic school, and after two years he starts doing things which are contrary to Islam practices, for example taking pork products to school? How will you then handle the situation? Will this also be seen as racism and against the constitution?

With the way that young lady Cheryl Zondi was cross-examined by the defence for “Pastor” Omotoso… I’m not surprised ladies don’t want to report rape! It was more than humiliating for her, and the questions by Daubermann almost suggested she asked for what she got and wanted more! Absolutely disgraceful.

Does anyone know why the Go Durban roadworks have been abandoned in Pinetown? Roads and pavements have been left with huge ditches without warning signs or even barrier tape to warn pedestrians or road users. This is downright dangerous and anyone coming to any harm could sue the municipality for thousands. My money is on the fact that taxi bosses are holding our esteemed council to ransom again.

I went to Home Affairs to apply for a copy residence permit (on their price list it is R90). I was referred to a contractor where l was told l could not get a copy but would have to apply for a new one at R1 350. I wonder is this not another CPS?

Absa offers a fixed deposit for five years closing October 31. The government is encouraging savings to Absa’s benefit. Extend the closing date to December, that’s when all state department employees receive their bonus, so this will benefit both the bank and clients.

I made an application for renewal of my driving licence on July 25 and have not received it to date. Can the department issue a temporary licence at its own cost in the meantime? Thanks.

Has anyone seen the prices of the outbuildings, basements etc in Chatsworth recently? I think that the landlords are basically just greedy. People are prepared and desperate, so they rent because not all can afford to own a house. These landlords don’t care, it’s like their main income, and the conditions of some of these places are terrible. Please comment on this situation.
