ZIM VENDORS BRUTALISED

-

I AM disappointed with the Zimbabwean government’s brutality towards the vendors there.

Vendors across the country are being manhandled by the police, some of them armed with AK-47 rifles. This contingent is also patrolling with water cannons to force the vendors off the streets.

Some of the vendors are refusing to go, insisting that all the designated trading places that they should go to are already full.

They know they will not have another source of income if they leave.

Some of them are educated and qualified individuals with no hope of a decent future, because of the inability of the nation’s governance.

People are starving, and in need of basic necessities.

The Zimbabwean government has clearly failed to stabilise its self-inflicted economic plunge. It proceeds with unnecessary plans, instead of reopening industries or supplying farmers to create jobs and eradicate their problems.

Chasing these vendors away will not solve much now.

Instead, there will be more starving people to add to those who are already poverty-stricken.

The government has done a good job in creating this mess, so it’s high time all its members resigned.

Their policies clearly need to be revised by new governance that is geared towards creating a prosperous Zimbabwe.
