What about worst form of apartheid in Arab world?

Re: Carl Niehaus averring months before the general election that he and others were not Jacob Zuma or NDZ people. It seems that he is feeling “the cold” outside.

The ANC, as a political party, is good at policy formulation. However, the ANC, as the government, is poor at policy implementation, therefore we will not resolve the country’s problems. | Mike

Jamal Khashoggi died in his fight to free Arab countries of tyranny and oppression. Many South Africans and many Muslim Indians fought the tyranny and oppression of apartheid. Yet their voices have not been heard following the brutal murder of Khashoggi. They are quick to call Israel an apartheid state, which is true, but they do not speak of the worst form of apartheid in Arab countries. Expat workers are treated as slaves with no rights, no matter what their position. Men and women are physically and sexually abused and the world says and does nothing. Khashoggi’s brutal and barbaric murder is what we know. Thousands suffer the same fate and we hear nothing about them.

Mr Ngcobo, please use your own money to fund Zuma’s singing career, I work hard to pay my rates and it’s not for you to squander. Joe Soap

The first R23 800 you earn in bank interest is tax-free but if you earn more interest, you are heavily taxed. The government has introduced a tax-free savings account but that helps little if you collect a lot of interest. Where is the incentive to save? Why should we be taxed so heavily on our hardearned interest? It’s heartbreaking to pay so much tax only to read in the paper how our taxes are squandered on trivial things. Tax on interest earned should be drastically reduced.

Can metro police please come to the corner of Jan Smuts and Bellair roads every morning as the taxis are jamming the roads? They stop on the road, not worrying about vehicles behind them and they are causing traffic congestion.

Another traffic officer killed on duty. A new efficient approach must be implemented to avoid these deaths. Perhaps well-manned roadblocks the same used to catch drunk drivers? MF

Recent article “Rape horror for woman seeking job”. What an ordeal for the rape victim and her mother who went to report the incident at KwaDabeka police station and were referred to Pinetown and then sent to Sydenham. Can Mr Cele resolve this run-around of rape victims?

I watched this one guy on TV from the DRC saying SA is the richest country in the world. Looked like an early April Fool’s joke. Alan

Too many rogue elements in the SAPS. It needs urgent cleaning up. The minister needs to start doing something about the situation. Citizens need a good, helpful police force, not one that is corrupt and inefficient.

It has not gone unnoticed by South Africans that the Muslim Charitable Trust donated R1 million and ended pit toilets at a black school, specifically Ezibukweni Primary, after 25 years of black rule. It has also not gone unnoticed that the municipality found R20m for unnecessary statues. We have a clear reason why we have endless miles of shacks encircling residential areas and which is growing into a catastrophe. SAM

Well done for finally opening the Rachel Finlayson pool. Hoping that the skycar is repaired in less than three years. Oupa.

This needs to be forwarded urgently to the Minister of Social Development about child support grants. Please check with Sars. Staff working at the municipalities and government institutions are fraudulently collecting child support grants. They don’t register their marriages. Millions of rand are being lost. The staff are unscrupulous.

Home affairs: one should go daily to Umgeni Road Home Affairs and watch the corruption that goes on there. Everyone – from security to the staff – knows what goes on at the premises. People pay openly to cut the queues.
