Dhlomo’s taking credit for baby’s rescue is a disgrace

POLITICS

Mr President, your wish-list to solve five important things in SA. Why is crime and corruption last on the list? Should it not be on top of your list? | Andy M

90% of the news we read is about corruption without any prosecution. Mr President, please tell South Africa whether, under you, corruption will be allowed to flourish even more, or whether you intend stamping it out.

LOAD SHEDDING

The blame for what is happening with Eskom must be put on the shoulders of the ANC, but I don’t think the EFF is any better. They are promising things that cannot be achieved. I really don’t know who I can vote for but it must be a party that is not corrupt and does not protect corrupt people. Hot on the heels of SONA we have State Of No powA.

Load shedding was created by the aliens. Our coal was taken by them to the sun, you can therefore understand the heatwave we’re having. Just an EFF thought, just like the assassination attempt that was not. | Joe Soap

Can the eThekwini Municipality please pay the homeless people at the robots? They seem to be doing a fantastic job of directing traffic. Are the police too busy washing the new Casspirs? | JP

What is going on with Eskom? Suddenly we are faced with Stage 4 power cuts, which means no electricity on three occasions some days. In Cape Town yesterday, where part of the World Triathlon Series was being staged, with competitors from all over the world, Eskom decided to begin load shedding just before the start of the race – which had to be delayed while generators were brought in!

Why doesn’t Eskom print our block number on our light accounts since they’re always chopping and changing these things? | Carey

I find it peculiar that only when Eskom asks Nersa for a high increase in tariffs do we get load shedding due to severe constraints on the grid or breakdowns. Are we to believe the current and past boards or plant managers never considered their neglecting to prioritise proper maintenance would lead to this? What happened to the “Tetris” schedule that supposedly rid us of load shedding in 2016? You can’t fool us all the time! | MadMan

Here we go again. No water in Sherwood during load shedding!! Two inconveniences at one time! Fed up. Anyone else having this problem?

ABANDONED BABIES

Young ladies, please stop dumping your unwanted babies. They have a right to live. You want to study, get a good job, travel, get married, leave your imprint in society. Well, let’s give them that opportunity as well. What if you’re dumping the only child that will look after you in your old age, or maybe a child that will achieve something great that would help humanity? So please, just think before you dump. Live and let live. | Bob. Wentworth

Well done to the entire team who rescued the abandoned newborn baby from deep in the drain. Well done. You guys made the whole country proud and to smile against all the weird news and power cuts. However here is the sad and tragic irony of it all – so much to save one life and so little to prevent so many others getting bombed, murdered or killed every day. It’s a mad and crazy world we live in, sorry, we exist in today. May the good Lord bless this lucky new life, this brave angel. | Yusuf Patel

Health MEC Dhlomo being interviewed on TV about the rescue of an abandoned baby (where others did all the hard work). What a disgraceful pre-election public relations exercise by Dhlomo, who knows his shares are rock-bottom.
