Trio go viral in Woolworths water video
THE three young men, who became internet sensations overnight this week, after acquiring “superpowers” from gulping down Woolworths water, might have hit the jackpot.
South Africans were left in stitches over a video demonstrating the “power of Woolworths water”.
DJ Fresh shared a video on Twitter showing three young men initially speaking in isiZulu but they suddenly switch into English, with a British accent, after drinking water bought from the store.
“Listen to the articulation, metamorphosis, photosynthesis, put some emphasis on it mate, amalgamate… Diction and articulation, if you know what I’m talking about… It’s important, the key components of communication… keep it flowing, like the water.”
It went viral, with 4 000 retweets, 9 500 favourites and 130 000 views.
However, it quickly escalated to #WoolworthsWaterChallenge with many social media users tweeting their own videos emulating the trio.
The mega retail company also jumped in by tweeting to one of the men and declaring that they would love to “amalgamate” with them.
The company’s head of corporate communications, Kirsten Hewett, later confirmed to The Star the company was keen to partner with the group.
“The video is very funny, created by a group of talented young men. We are so glad our water can give Mzanzi a laugh. We have reached out to Qhama and his friends and would love to engage further with them on articulating potential exquisite opportunities for amalgamation,” said Hewett. | Lindile Sifile
