It is insanity to vote for the ANC again

-

ALBERT Einstein apparently said: “Insanity, is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.”

In the South African context, continuing to vote for the ANC and expecting to get a different result is insanity.

Since 1994, we have been promised many times that “the people of South Africa are our number one priority” and that electing the ANC to power means “a better life for all”, that their lives would improve, because the ANC would create many more jobs, that education, healthcare and municipal services would improve – many promises made to the public just before elections by politicians who disappear once the elections are over.

In 2018/19, the economy is in freefall and an economy cannot grow without increased employment, but unemployment in South Africa is worse than it has ever been.

We have one of the worst education systems in the world. Those who enter university find that their mediocre primary and high school education has no merit, when confronted with the reality of the commitment and discipline needed to study for a degree. The world stage is a competitive environment and there is no space for mediocrity.

The public healthcare sector is in chaos – sick and dying people sit and wait for hours to receive help. Maladministration, shortage of medication, badly maintained facilities and unsympathetic staff, all contribute to the overall poor performance of this sector.

The metro police have two approaches to crime: target persons who appear to have money and ignore real infringements of the by-laws committed by, for example, taxi drivers – who go through red traffic lights or use the emergency lane on the freeways as an extra lane. But the point is that, as a lawabiding citizen, you are a soft target for the police. The public services provided by the ANC government have failed miserably.

The blatant corruption by government and theft of our money has reached epic proportions.

After all we have been through with this ANC government, who in their right mind would consider voting for the ANC again? It’s insanity.

Give another party a chance – you may be surprised with a better life for all. MARCEL WICHURA | Hillcrest
