Nyirenda is open to quitting struggling Baroka

- MINENHLE MKHIZE

WEDSON Nyirenda is ready to quit Baroka FC if the club feel his services are no longer needed at the Limpopo outfit.

Baroka are in the relegation zone. On Wednesday, Lamontville Golden Arrows beat them 1-0 at home.

Wayde Jooste’s late strike handed the Durban outfit maximum points in an Absa Premiership showdown.

“I don’t mind. I’m employed by Baroka, if Baroka says go and then I will be the happiest man. Somebody else can come and do the job. That’s all. I can have other things to do. I came here to help and I’ve helped them and if they think I’m not good enough, I will go. They shall see me again and I will play them. That’s how football is,” Nyirenda explained.

Baroka are 13th on the log with 21 points after 24 games. One point separates them from second-bottom Chippa United.

Baroka have not been the same team after winning the Telkom Knockout against Orlando Pirates at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth in December. They have lost their last three games in the league.

“The boys are fighting. Something else is not right. We are not getting goals. They are fighting. You can see. We are playing well and we are creating chances. We will get it right. They will fight. They will bounce back,” he added.

Baroka have struggled for clean sheets in 2019.

“It is unbelievable and very painful. I think we had the whole game in our hands. We did everything good. We attacked and defended well. We couldn’t get the ball at the back of the net. Look at the goal they scored. It came from nowhere. Sometimes it is unexplainable. I was shouting, concentrate. We stood flat. Why do we stand flat? They scored and that’s how football is.”

Baroka will face Kaizer Chiefs away next month after the Fifa break.
