Dlamini Zuma is treating us like a bunch of nitwits

- GRAHAM RICE JP MJM

COVID-19

THE lockdown was initially to buy the government time to prepare for the virus and build temporary ICU units in preparation for the peak. Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize stated we may run out of ICU beds as early as June. We only have

18 000 confirmed cases, of which a small percentage of people are affected badly enough to be admitted to ICU. June is around the corner, we have been in lockdown for nearly two months, so what has the government been doing to prepare more ICU beds? What is actually going on? |

Am I reading correctly into Dlamini Zuma and her first call not to allow the sale of cigarettes/alcohol till level 3 and now she is saying level 1? We are all being treated like a bunch of nitwits and she is getting away with it!!! |

Why must schools be open yet places of worship, Parliament, union offices, Sace offices and municipality offices are all closed and not fully operational during the lockdown?

Dlamini Zuma and Bheki Cele must both remember that “there is life after you two”! Don’t think you can both rise above our nation and make our lives a misery!! We, yes we, will not allow it, enough is enough. Don’t get “power crazy”!

Unions should not close early and avoid contact with people. They should do field visits to check on schools and check on members’ interests.

NDZ really thinks that the coronavirus is surrounded by alcohol and cigarettes. Gosh, listen to international news you will probably learn something!!

Those people criticising teachers who are afraid… When your children die of corona, don’t expect sympathy.

I am grateful for Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-zuma teaching the nation that “zol” is not only a noun but apparently a verb, too. Now can someone please clarify what the past tense is? Is it like the verb “to walk” and you simply add an “ed” on the end? Or is it like the verb “to run” and you change the vowel in the middle when using the past tense? And if so, is the past tense of “zol” then “zal”, “zel”, “zil”, or perhaps even “zul”? Someone please enlighten me, I am most curious.

The mayor of the ethekwini Municipality is completely out of touch with what’s happening in our city. He claims that the city is ready to move to level 3 lockdown. Has he visited these areas: Albert Park, Phoenix Plaza area or Verulam? People are moving about with no masks, taxis are full, no social distancing, street traders are operating with no masks on, serving crowds at a time. ethekwini is definitely not ready to move to level 3 lockdown.

It’s nearly two months now since the lockdown and I’m not able to work and earn a living.

I am a life insurance policy holder and have just been able to pay my last two premiums. I can’t get a loan or make my policy paid up, which at the least would help me to continue paying for a while. If I don’t pay my premiums it means my policy is going to lapse and all the money that I have paid over the years is going to be forfeited, and it will be a gain to the insurance company.

I know that there are millions of people like me out there who are in the same predicament.

Definitely the insurance companies can at least give us three months off, and by that time I’m sure we’ll be back on our footing and will make arrangements to pay off the arrears. Otherwise I’m afraid the insurance companies are going to make billions out of us.

Can someone please help us or can our president please intervene on our behalf? |
