Dlamini Zuma, are you for real? If you want to hold the whole country to ransom, you are going to come very short! | Parks

Mr Kamal Panday wrote a brilliantly constructed letter in the Daily News on Monday. This man has got a lot of intelligence and experience. He is 100% correct that we must think of online teaching. Could he take over as minister of education and guide on how to do both, save our education and keep our children safe. | Urvashi Keshav

With all due respect Mr Kamal Panday, Covid-19 has highlighted the inequalities in the public schooling system. Pupils from disadvantaged communities cannot access data as easily as others can. Online learning is not a solution, it actually exacerbates the problem.

Nothing compares to teaching in the classroom where we can guide, inspire and transform the lives of our children. | Chrissie Virasamy, Southlands Secondary.

I took my Mercedes for a service. I was shocked that I had to complete a health register myself and then had to sign another document inside. They have all our personal info so should have had it pre populated and I should have only been asked questions. This is how it’s done at all businesses these days. Was also shocked about the crowds and pen not being sanitised and told them about this. I guess it’s profits above health.

Wow! Miracles do happen. Our religious leaders prayed at Blue Lagoon on Sunday. On Monday the bottle stores opened. Can they now pray for NDZ to get some common sense and lift the cigarette ban? | RP

Queues seen at bottle stores, wow wonder where all that money to purchase this alcohol is from, but such an outcry for food and people have no money to buy food or is it just an act to get something for nothing. | LS

The ANC wants President Ramaphosa to engage with the US over the George Floyd matter. Did they also ask the president to engage China on our 700 corona deaths and 35 000 infections as well as the billions lost to our economy? Are they going to ask the president to tell China to write off our debt in exchange? Are they?

Some schools have heeded the call by our indecisive education minister and opened for SMT and other support staff and teachers to help prepare schools for the eventual return of pupils. It is such a challenge to see temporary SGBS appointed and substitute teachers reporting to school and helping to prepare schools for lessons to resume and yet have thousands of teachers affiliated to Sadtu at home on full pay. SGBS, temporary and substitute teachers are also at risk but they are prepared to make this huge sacrifice even with a small percentage of their normal remuneration. Covid alert.

People in liquor queues were so excited. More excited than they would have been even if they were lining up for a newly found vaccine for this virus.

9 500 labourers (listed) at least from neighbouring countries due to return to work in our mines. Why? We have many times that available, or is it that their work is not good enough? Robert

ODDS AND ENDS

Sardines were netted over the weekend and greedy netters were selling these shoals for R1 500 a crate. The buyers then sell these little fish to the public for R50 a dozen, a total rip-off. Teach these greedy people a lesson, don’t buy at that price. They are always sold at R15 to R20 a dozen and after a week R10 a dozen.
