Motshwari excited to get on the field
Still waiting for test results, but properly pumped to play for Pirates again
HIS desire to win battles in all aspects of life has given Orlando Pirates midfield maestro, Ben Motshwari, the heart of a conqueror.
That ‘never-give-in’ attitude has also helped him to shrug off the stress that comes with testing positive for the novel coronavirus.
Motshwari made headlines after testing positive for Covid-19 last month and is now waiting for his results after going through the process of self quarantine.
His agent Palesa Mkhize confirmed in an interview with Independent Media that the midfielder is still waiting for his results after completing the mentally draining isolation period.
“Yes, I can confirm that he has done his tests and we are waiting for the results from the doctors. He will inform the team about what is happening,” Mkhize said.
“From my side, I haven’t received any update. I don’t think he has also received an update as yet. I’m sure he posted about his readiness on social media because he can feel his body. Obviously he has to wait for the results. He is still waiting for his results. Once he gets them, the club will give an update.”
Motshwari revealed his willingness to get back to action on social media at the start of the week.
“When you get support from people and those words of encouragement and also take your vitamins, chances are that you’ll recover quickly,” Mkhize stated.
“If you abide by the regulations that you must isolate, you will recover quickly. I guess that’s why Ben feels that by the time the PSL action resumes, he will be ready.
“He had the support and that’s why he has been able to deal with his situation correctly mentally.”
The Premier Soccer League is on the brink of resumption. A special joint liaison committee involving the South African Football Association and the PSL has been working to prepare for the rebooting of the local season.
“Ben is very strong mentally. Sometimes you don’t have to worry too much. The mind is a very powerful thing. You must feed it to be positive instead of feeding it with negative things. That’s when it’s going to break you down. Ben has been very positive in these difficult times,” Mkhize explained.
