Killing of top detective final straw
THE brutal killing of Charl Kinnear demonstrates either the ineptitude or unwillingness of the government to combat crime as it seems unable to stop the murder of members of the police force and the repeated murders that occur on a daily basis in our cities.
The final straw is the death of a top detective.
What is the use of a R1 million reward, besides reinforcing the idea that the government does not know what to do?
It just shows how the gang members are in control in some areas.
Surely there need to be regular armed forces patrols in these areas? What do our soldiers do? Surely their presence would be a deterrent to the vicious thugs that rule our streets?
The public should not have to witness the deaths of innocent children caught in gang crossfire, which happens on a regular basis, the drive- by shootings that continue unabated.
Has the government lost the plot and is it allowing the gangs ascendancy in our towns?
It’s a very serious state of affairs when citizens cannot walk the streets without fear of being gunned down by criminal elements and I want to ask President Cyril Ramaphosa what he proposes to do about this threat to our nation.
