Tragic end to goose laying golden egg

-

ONCE there was a country located right at the bottom of a great and diverse continent. It had a beautiful little goose that regularity laid a golden egg – enough to provide comfortably for all its citizens.

Each time she laid a new golden egg, the people rejoiced. But soon people began to demand more and more from the owners, and pressure was placed on the goose to lay her eggs with greater frequency.

When she could not lay enough eggs to meet their demands, she was threatened and starved and eventually beaten to try to force her to lay more. Eventually after much physical abuse, the beautiful little goose was strangled to death in a final effort to force her to produce more eggs. And so arose the difficult decision of whether to bake or roast the little goose’s carcass.
