Yet another podium for younger Binder

-

WITH the duck off his back, Darryn Binder proved that his maiden Moto3 victory was no fluke a fortnight ago by securing another podium finish at the Aragon Grand Prix yesterday.

The younger Binder started from 11th on the grid, and bobbed and weaved his way through the pack to finish second, just 0.091 seconds behind Juame Masia of Spain.

The South African KTM rider had an opportunity to step onto the top of the podium but Masia went unpunished after seemingly exceeding track limits on the final lap.

Meanwhile, Binder’s older brother Brad continued his recent slump in the elite Motogp category when he finished just outside the top 10 at Aragon.

Binder has battled to make an impact since his first Motogp victory at the Czech GP in August.

Binder, starting from 14th place, worked his way up to 11th – 13sec behind race winner Alex Rins of Spain and one position better than his Red Bull KTM teammate Pol Espargaro of Spain.

Suzuki’s Rins held off a spirited challenge from Repsol Honda rookie Alex Marquez to claim his first victory of the season.

Rins’ teammate Joan Mir finished third to take the championship lead from pole- sitter Fabio Quartararo, who finished a disappointing 18th for Petronas Yamaha.
