Crime, unemployment levels are going up daily

ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY

CAN someone please explain to me why, when pipes burst in Wentworth, there are so many workers there that just stand around. They haven't a clue about pipes, then they get a contractor. Now if they knew what was going on, why must the government pay someone else (a contractor) when there are employees getting paid? I wonder, then, what credentials they have for the job. Have they got papers to prove they know what they are doing? God Help SA.

I would really appreciate it if someone could explain to me why grass-cutting is not done at schools with the grass-cutting machine that is used for parks and gardens. Schools are having a very tough time financially at present and if the municipality can do this service for schools, then this would help ease the financial burden a little for them. It would be great if this became a headline topic of discussion. | RSV

ZUMA

Methinks that Zuma’s attorneys should be cited for bad legal advice. Gone are the days when lawyers will act like officers of the court. Nowadays they act like a jukebox. When a coin is put in, any tune can be picked. | DV

I think JZ has been misled. When he authorised the commission he confirmed with the judiciary that it was going to be his commission.

After appearing a couple of times he protested "where's the commission I was promised?" Zuma bases a lot of his reasoning for not appearing before the commission on the backing of his family and friends rather than his conscience or the rule of law or the Constitution.

RAMAPHOSA

Our president is going to recommend the Nobel Prize for the Cubans. What about Imtiaz Sooliman for the sterling work he does worldwide to uplift the poor? | Anon

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been the president of the country for three years but he has done nothing significant to improve the country. Crime and unemployment levels are going up every day. Incompetent Cabinet ministers are kept, although it is clear to everyone that they do not deserve to be there. State-owned companies are collapsing one by one. Should we keep blaming Zuma for all of these shenanigans?

ODDS AND ENDS

A Cape Town newspaper report headlined “Attorney faces sentencing after fraud conviction” in matters going back up to 16 years. This is only one of many cases reported recently. Do the victims of fraud by attorneys ever receive their money back and who will help the victims in these cases? | Richard Benson

Kevin Govender's letter to the editor about Donald Trump is correct in many ways. Trump attended a military school with very strict discipline. He is totally against the Democrats, because their values were not in line with his Christian values of country and people first. The Democrats, who control most of the arms manufacturing industry, media industry and the pharmaceutical industry, were known to use the CIA and other networks to start wars in foreign countries to boost the sale of arms. Trump is against using American soldiers to fight in foreign countries. Most conflicts involving the US occurred under the Democrats, not the Republicans. It was Democrat Clinton's decision to allow major US manufacturing industries to relocate to China, and allow cheap Chinese products to enter the US. Democrat backers became billionaires through this policy. This led to massive unemployment in many states in the US. lt is all about making billions with Democrats. The middle class to poor were looking for someone to put a stop to all this and along came Donald Trump for the average American. The Democrats are afraid of him, very afraid.
