ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY

Durban among the most dangerous cities in the world: What is Steve Middleton, chief of metro police, doing to halt this situation? Daily we see 6 to 8 metro police victimising motorists around Musgrave centre, ticket machines have been broken for years but still motorists are prosecuted. Then you see 10 to 12 metro cops riding around in Quantums looking for easy targets such as seat belts and defective lights. | Peter

The crematorium in Mobeni Heights has been out of order for about seven years and during this time the ANC has been very silent. Now out of the blue, before it is due to open, an ANC MPL released a press statement that she had contacted the deputy city manager for community and emergency services and he had confirmed that the crematorium was ready to open. Madam MPL where were you for the past 7 years? | Jaya

COVID-19

We hear this all the time, wash your hands, sanitise, everywhere you go sanitise, but what happens when we get money from ATM, change from supermarkets, shops and taxis?

Is the money safe to put in our wallets, purses, pockets without it being sanitised? Money can also carry the virus but no one is talking.

Another botched deal, this time between our incompetent government and India’s right-wing chaps. Thank you India but no thank you. | Mr Modi Ebkoybie

ODDS AND ENDS

Our country is in such a sorry state, people are crying for their beloved country. All the fighting against apartheid was in vain. The freedom fighters’s sacrifices and blood shed were in vain. It is heartbreaking to see what has become of our country and its people. We expected a democratic country as it was envisioned but that dream was short-lived. We have the best Constitution in the world but we do not respect it. A very sad state of affairs, all we are left with now is corruption. | Dolly

Well done to JG for your article on Yogin Devan in The Post February 10 edition. My sentiments exactly. Mr Devan seems to form an opinion about Kamala Harris instead of being proud of her achievements, and the villagers of India have shown that they truly appreciate and adore her. Mr Devan, maybe you can learn from these villagers, be nice irrespective of the amount of (Indian Ness). | Ruby

Ladysmith flooding: What happened to the dam that was built to collect the water using sluice gates to hold back the floods during heavy rains? It did work for previous floods after it was built by, I think, Prof Kader Asmal. Did the municipality go to sleep when the floods came? This needs to be investigated. Millions of rands of damage caused by negligence. | Mr Govender
