Centre provides jobs to locals

ETHEKWINI mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda has launched the R980 million Midway Crossing Development in Durban.

The centre, situated in the Dumisani Makhaye node, will cater for the communities of Newlands, Lindelani and Ntuzuma.

ethekwini Municipality spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said the much-needed development was ready to start trading.

Mayisela said it had created job opportunities during the construction phase, and it would put food on the table for many families because most of its employees had been sourced locally.

“An additional benefit is that members of the community have been allocated a certain percentage of shareholding.”
