THE week of the much-anticipated Durban Business Fair (DBF) 2021 is finally here and promises to showcase a range of locally manufactured products which will be on sale, while experienced entrepreneurs empower the business community with their skills and experiences.

The DBF 2021 empowerment activities will be held at the Durban Exhibition Centre and will officially kick-off on Friday, December 10 until Sunday, December 12. Part of the line-up includes a powerhouse business engagement themed: “Uncovering solutions and opportunities in the aftermath of Covid-19 and unrests”.

The session will be headlined by speakers including Theo Baloyi, founder of Bathu Sneaker Brand; Gladwin Malishe, deputy president of Durban Chamber of Commerce; Thandeka Ndlovu-mngomezulu, industry founding member and chief executive officer of Total Serve Facilities Management; Veli Ngubane, founding partner and chief creative officer of Avatar Agency Group, and Sbonelo Mbatha, director and co-founder of PETROCONNECT.

The aim of this session is to engage and discover opportunities as a collective business community, especially after the hardships experienced by the sector this year. The session will be facilitated by Paul Nzimande, a well-known life coach, social entrepreneur and business consultant.

On Saturday, young people are in for an inspiring session of Youth Business Connect, under the theme: “From isolation and disruption to creating connections: Innovate, elevate and celebrate.”

The session will be led by Dudu Busanidube, author of the popular Hlomu series of self-published novels which now also features as a movie on Showmax. Other speakers include Lungelo Xaba, a success story of DBF who owns an interior design company Desired Trenz; Captain Londy Ngcobo, who is a ship navigator and Africa’s first female dredge master; and Siyanda Calvin Ntenga, an entrepreneur and KZN Youth Business Awards founder.
