The Dutch chess researcher, Tim Krabbe, has over the years collected games which are interestin­g for their historical and curiosity value. They include games with the most moves, consecutiv­e checks, under-promotions latest castling etc. Krabbe is also an accomplish­ed writer with his book ‘The Golden Egg’ being made into a film 1988 and later given the Hollywood treatment in ‘The Vanishing’ (1993) starring Jeff Bridges and Kiefer Sutherland. Having seen them both I feel the original Dutch film was more chilling.

He also has collected what he feels are the most fantastic moves ever played over a chessboard of which the following game qualifies…
