DIS-CHEM pharmacy Eastgate has expressed gratitude to the public for their generosity and to anonymous corporate donors for donating sanitary pads for the Million Comforts campaign, which closed on August 14.

The Dis-chem Foundation’s Million Comforts campaign aims to empower schoolgirls by raising awareness about women’s health and giving girls the opportunity to continue their education without the burden of hygiene risks, discomfort and embarrassment, which leads to the loss of dignity.

The ambassador of the campaign, businesswoman Portia Mngomezulu, founder of Portia M skincare products, was the host at the in-store activation of the Million Comforts campaign.

“As a personal testament to self-empowerment, staying in school and working hard to make your dreams become reality, Portia M perfectly embodies the mission and values of the Million Comforts campaign,” said Mngomezulu.

Dis-chem pharmacies further thanked the Spectre Studio Dance Company, which provided top entertainment, with a high-energy hip-hop set, during the activation.

“On a more serious note, three proudly South African Protea Karate Juniors carried out a Karate demonstration, sharing the importance of girls staying in school and remaining focused with hard work and determination to achieve their goals.

“Thanks go out to a corporate that prefers to remain anonymous for donating a substantial figure towards the purchase of sanitary pads that filled two entire trolleys, which will now be brand matched,” said Dischem in a statement.
