You get what you vote for: looting and poor service

- ROGER TAMBWE

South Africa today is a democracy. Thanks to the founding fathers of our Constitution and the role of the stalwarts in the Struggle against apartheid, black, white, coloured and Indian. Who are the beneficiaries of the Struggle? Certainly not the suffering and impoverished black masses, but rather the government elite – instant millionaires/billionaires. They have sold their souls to state capture conjurers and betrayed the struggling masses. The erstwhile National Party, despite shovelling away yet unknown amounts of reserves outside of the country, have left most infrastructure in place. The ANC, instead of enriching our resources with help from more than willing foreign sympathisers, slurped up the vast ever-flowing floods of help intended for the victims of white domination. We must not be complacent. Alone we are nothing, but united we are strong and we can bring about a change in our country. We are not racist and we embrace the concept of a rainbow nation. Remember: We get what we give. You give your vote to looters, fraud masters, state capturers and self-enrichers, you get nothing back, but a higher cost of living, increasing municipal bills, load shedding, water stoppage, sewage flooding, dysfunctional libraries, closure of iconic community recreational facilities like the community-built

Asherville Swimming Baths, garbage removal and a litany of other failures of the ANC government. Under the white National Party rule we were deprived of basic human rights, but there was service delivery, security at homes and businesses and crime was under control. There was no load shedding and disruption of water supply. So where did we go wrong? Bathopele – People first – sounded great but was “full of sound and fury signifying nothing”. It was a lot of hot air. Go to the ethekweni offices, Home Affairs, motor vehicle licence centres, post offices, etc to experience poor service. | RABBIE

My daughter who is employed in a state hospital has had all the Covid and two booster vaccinations. I cannot understand why she was diagnosed two weeks ago with the most severe Covid strain. The medical profession must not lie to us about mutations etc that these vaccines are ineffective against. May I humbly ask; just what are these vaccines effective against? | JKS

Metro police, just a heads up to you guys that it is us citizens of Durban that make Durban and you are chosen to look after it and us. And it is not the other way around.

I’ve just read something very interesting. Just 6% of all dogs that are kept as pets are pit bulls, yet they account for almost 60% of all dog attacks. The majority of these attacks result in either serious injury or death. No other dog breed even comes close. Pit bulls were originally bred for dog fighting. They are ten times more aggressive than any other dog breed. They also have the tendency to latch on to their victim, which results in even more severe injuries. I am not for a total ban on all pit bulls, but legislation is definitely required. | GORDON

HENDRICKS

So sad indeed that children are being killed by pit bulls. Now, how about treating murderers the same way pit bulls are being treated after each killing incident? How many people are murdered each day, week, month and year without being punished accordingly? What we often hear is that a bail application will be on such and such day. The community should urge for capital punishment for all murders. |
