THREE people were shot and killed and three others injured in a shooting yesterday morning in Durban.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said three people were killed and three others seriously injured in a shooting on Market Road in the market area just before 11.30am.

Jamieson said that ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find the SAPS already in attendance.

A quick survey of the scene was conducted and more ambulances and advanced life support paramedics were dispatched to the scene.

“Three people, including two security guards, were found with fatal gunshot wounds. Despite advanced life support, paramedics’ attempts to resuscitate them were in vain,” Jamieson said.

“Another three people, including a security guard and an SAPS member, sustained serious gunshot wounds and were stabilised on the scene by advanced life support paramedics before being transported to a Durban hospital for the further treatment.”

Jamieson said that at this stage, the events leading up to the incident are unknown but the SAPS and Metro Police will be investigating further. By yesterday afternoon, police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the scene was still active.
