5 killed, 25 injured in shooting at gay club

DENVER: At least five people were killed and 25 others injured when a gunman, now in police custody, opened fire inside a gay nightclub in the US state of Colorado at the weekend, officials said.

The incident took place late at Club Q in the city of Colorado Springs. The suspect, Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, started shooting as he entered the club with a rifle, police said. At least two people inside confronted him and prevented him from continuing to kill others.

US President Joe Biden urged efforts to enact an assault weapons ban to get “weapons of war off America’s streets”.
