Citizens need to show politicians who’s boss
THERE is a lack of active citizenry. Citizens have taken a back seat and allowed politicians to run the show. You can’t trust politicians with power. They need to be guarded. Therefore, citizens need to come to the party.
Politicians have mastered the art of manipulation. During elections, they treat voters as if they are the most important thing on Earth. After elections, they vanish.
They also behave as if they own the country. They don’t. But we allow them to do as they please. They loot our money and we watch and keep quiet. Yet we expect corruption to end. It won’t.
They have also wrecked our economy and education, messed up our reliable electricity and state-owned entities. Today, we don’t have a rail system.
Citizens are ignorant of their role. They think it’s limited to voting. No, it goes beyond that. Part of their responsibility is to hold politicians accountable. They have abdicated their responsibility. Politicians have proved that they don’t care about the masses. The time for politicians to run the country is up. Citizens should reclaim their power. They should run the country, their country. THABILE MANGE | Mogale City
