Mr Cele, who will be policing after January?

- NARESH SINGH

Mr Bheki Cele – why will policing operations be until the end of January? What about the other 11 months and beyond? Don’t sugarcoat things. We are tired of talking. This country has really gone down the drain after 1994. | AHMED RAW

As we are cheering and praisesinging those who will be in charge of the country in a few weeks, it is important to remember that our country is under heavy attack from criminality never experienced before (except for land disposition in 1652). Sad to say, this time we are in charge. | VUSI KEKANA

Every December, fuel prices are increased knowing it is holiday time and people want to visit family and travel. It happens every year and then they come with lame excuses. | MICHAEL HORN

ODDS AND ENDS

Too many people are fostering kids just for the money. This should not have happened and it could have been avoided. Did social media do proper checks? Being a foster parent means you treat that child like your own. | TANYA GROEPE

Driving 130km/h in an 80km/h zone – case closed. Too many drivers with high-performance cars travel at ridiculous speeds on public roads and put other road users’ lives at risk. Yes, cyclists are a menace on roads not wide enough to be ridden on, but if the driver was travelling at 80km/h, it is possible that the incident could have been avoided. | KAVI SINGH

The ex-president must be locked up for the rest of his life – including all who are part of corruption, looting and state capture. The Department of Correctional Services should do their work and follow the outcome of the courts and don’t waste our tax money on him. The court sets the verdict and they must apply to it. He is not above the law, as no one else is. Nine years of state capture wasted and corruption in the highest level was committed during his term. If KZN wants him, let them vote for him to become their president in KZN only. | SAKKIE WENTZEL

The Catholic Church has been in the spotlight for almost 15 years for many serious crimes. This week, when Pope Francis fired the entire leadership of the Roman Catholic Church worldwide, it came as no surprise to many. Corruption, power abuse, mismanagement, verbal abuse, favouritism and many other accusations were levelled at senior members. At the heart of it all – money. It is well documented that the Vatican is still used by organised crime from many countries for money laundering and a safe haven for tax avoidance. Almost 80% of churches in America and Europe no longer operate due to very poor attendance. This is the reason why the Catholic Church has focused its attention on Africa and is very critical of other religions using propaganda and charity to convert. What is of even greater concern to the Catholic Church is the large numbers of Americans and Europeans turning to spirituality of the East – which is scientific, current, and adds value to their lifestyle. |
